Bruern Holiday Cottages provides stylish and elegant holiday accommodation set in the beautiful surroundings of the English Cotswolds, making them ideal for any family holiday in the UK. You can just relax in your surroundings, or at Bruern there is a heated indoor pool, croquet lawn, gym, spa treatments, playhouse, games room, bicycles or a tennis court plus plenty of toys and games available.

The accommodation comprises twelve 5* graded luxury self-catering cottages that sleep between two and ten people. All our self-catering cottages have central heating, a stereo system, satellite TV, telephones, power showers, microwave, washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, games and their own private terrace. Cots, highchairs and stair gates can all be provided, baby sitting is also available and there is a catering service.

History of these luxury self catering holiday cottages in the Cotswolds

The 12 cottages were converted from the Victorian stable yard and outbuildings of Bruern Abbey, a handsome 18th century Baroque country house. Bruern Abbey was bought in 1945 by the late Michael Astor, a writer and Member of Parliament. Judy Astor, Michael's widow, began converting the cottages in 1992, bringing to the task thoughtfulness, imagination and a passion for design. In the interiors, in the gardens and in the very way Bruern is run, nothing has been done without the guest’s experience and point of view in mind.

Luxury Self Catering Holiday Cottages in the Cotswolds

Bruern Holiday Cottages have been national winner of the English Tourism Council's Excellence in England Gold and Silver Awards for Self-Catering Holidays. They are luxurious, stylish and well equipped, with open fires and four poster beds as well as state-of-the-art bathrooms and kitchens. They sleep two to ten. The cottage all have private enclosed terraces and many have their own secluded gardens.

In the beautifully landscaped communal gardens and grounds, facilities include tennis, croquet, swimming, gym and the Stables Spa offering all sorts of treatments and pampering (Aromatherapy Associates massages and facials). Our spa has been featured on Tatler’s 101 Best Spas in the world. There is also a special play area for children with a mini-playground, two-storey Wendy house and a heated play cabin with dressing up gear, toys, art materials and fantastic retro pedal cars and tractors.

Bruern's central location makes it an excellent base for exploring The Cotswolds - Oxford is half an hour away, Stratford-upon-Avon and the Shakespeare National Theatre under an hour, and Cheltenham (racing and the annual Literary Festival) much the same. There are lovely wildlife walks in the neighbouring Nature Reserve at Foxholes and along the Oxfordshire Way, which runs through Bruern.

Bruern is also easy to get to by both train and car - Central London is just an hour and a half by either, and there are direct trains from there to Kingham station which is just 5 minutes drive away. It is also about the same distance from Birmingham and Bristol.
