Bruisyard Hall, Saxmundham, Suffolk, East of England for large group family holidays (click here for map )
Holiday Home Accommodation Summary (EN141)
Bruisyard Hall is a beautiful 10 bedroom house in the heart of the Suffolk countryside. Spacious and grand with a homely and comfortable atmosphere, it’s the perfect venue for all types of events. This historical site faces south to the upper reaches of the River Alde. It is surrounded by meadow with moat and fishponds at the back. Indeed, one of the many joys of Bruisyard Hall is to sit in the Porch and soak up the tranquillity of the Suffolk countryside. Bruisyard Hall is available for parties of up to twenty people. All ten bedrooms are comfortably furnished with twin beds, and the master bedroom boasts a beautiful antique bed and wonderful views across the valley from its two south facing windows.
Large groups of families and friends enjoy the well-equipped and spacious rooms. Downstairs, the hallway with its 16th Century beams, leads into the Drawing Room, with its oak floor, stone fireplace and tall windows looking out over beautiful, wooded countryside. The ancient site on which Bruisyard Hall stands faces south to the upper reaches of the River Alde and is surrounded by meadows, with a moat and fishponds. The dining room, with its attractive gallery window high on the back wall, can seat 20 and is next to the 14th Century beamed kitchen which has been modernised with fridges, freezers, a range cooker, microwave and everything you could need to cater for a large party.
Upstairs, there are 10 bedrooms, sleeping 20, and five bathrooms. The Master Bedroom, with its moulded ceiling and antique double bed, has a wonderful view across the valley from its two south-facing windows. This room and two others have en-suite bathrooms while the other bedrooms are comfortably furnished, with twin beds and the attic bedroom makes an ideal children’s room. Indeed, the house is a paradise for children, who will spend happy hours exploring its nooks and crannies.
The house is equipped to a high standard throughout. There is a large Games/Conference Room next to the kitchen, with a pool table. The snug TV room has a video and elsewhere in the house there is also a piano. Wood is provided for an open fire, which complements the oil-fired central heating. Linen and towels are included and cot and high chairs are available too. The housekeeper is available for cleaning and babysitting by arrangement. There is trout fishing in the large 13th Century fishpond and wonderful walks can be had along the River Alde or the farm and woodland behind the house.
The beautiful Suffolk countryside attracts many visitors each year and the House is close to such attractions as the annual Aldeburgh Festival , beaches at Aldeburgh and Southwold, historic Dunwich – the city under the sea; Minsmere Nature Reserve, Sutton Hoo Viking Burial site and many others. Nearby golf courses, sailing centres and riding stables mean there is never a dull moment. Good pubs and restaurants are not hard to find and there are good shopping opportunities too. |
