Perfect short break holiday. Easy access to motorways & Peak District. Facilities onsite excellent & not too busy. Recommended. Rated 5 out of 5, Mary & Phil, Feb 2013
We loved Darwin Forest, a real find - thank you Lucilla! We went on your recommendation & were not disappointed. The setting is just perfect, quiet & peaceful yet lots for the kids to do - it felt like a really "safe" environment. We too enjoyed the restaurant & liked the fact that they separated the families from the adults-only so that we didn't disturb other people too much. Staff were fabulous & the lodges were really lovely - we opted for one with its own hot tub which was a special treat. Highly recommended. Rated 5 out of 5, Peter & family, Feb 2013.
Lovely family holiday & the accommodation was just perfect, log cabins within the woodland just seemed to really work. The cabins were much bigger than we thought & really well equipped - the only thing that seemed small was the bathroom but that was fine with us. The facilities onsite were excellent & we really enjoyed the stunning scenery in the area - we visited Chatsworth which is just down the road plus lots of lovely Derbyshire villages & towns. Great place to explore & an excellent holiday with the children. Rated 5 out of 5, Fiona, stayed Oct 2012.
Wow, what a surprise. My family & I stayed here during the first week of the October half term for a great value holiday at this 5 star rated holiday park. We stayed in a Riber, 2 bedroom holiday lodge complete with dishwasher & couldn't believe how lovely the accommodation was - spotlessly clean, welcoming, warm & comfortable. The actual holiday park far exceeded our expectations with the onsite restaurant superb - good value, local produce & the staff were excellent with the children, even my "picky" husband enjoyed the local ale in the bar which he seemed to frequent every time he went up to the restaurant for a take-away! The indoor heated swimming pool was lovely & warm, even for me & also lovely & clean. Even though the weather wasn't great (not expected in October) there was always something to do including the trim track trail with obstacles, football pitch, woodland walk, forest trail off road cycle, indoor play barn, outdoor play, games room, crazy golf, tennis court etc. The location was also stunning with fabulous scenery all around with Matlock, Bakewell & Chatsworth just down the road. My husband & kids also really enjoyed the local off-road Monsal Cycle Trail along an old railway track so perfectly safe & not too strenous. I have to be honest, this has been one of the best value holidays we have ever been on & I would highly recommend this lovely, quiet, relaxing holiday park. Rating 5 out of 5 (no doubt), Lucilla (yes-editor), Oct 2012.

Reviews from the Hoseasons website

We were very impressed by the standard of accommodation and facilities. There was enough for our 8 year old to do (swimming, crazy golf, football, table tennis, hiring bikes, Little Monkeys) and the location made it easy to see Matlock Bath and Chatsworth. Would definitely recommend this to others and we will book again. Thank You for a very pleasant holiday experience.

Beautifully appointed lodges with comfy beds and crisp cotton sheets. The grounds of the park were lovely to explore with our two children, safe and quiet with little surprises to be found, such as balance beams and ponds.
It's a place where we can relax and enjoy time with our 7 year old twins. They are happy if they can go swimming twice a day, ride their bikes and play outside.
