Fairlight itself boasts a stunning coastline (pictured) and country parks providing more than 500 acres of cliff walks, woodland and countryside to roam. As a holiday location, East Sussex is hard to beat, offering a wealth of activities and places of interest to explore. The cobbled lanes, old smuggling inns and interesting shops and galleries in the ancient Cinque Port of Rye are just 5 miles away as are Battle and its famous abbey, and the historic seaside town of Hastings with its fascinating museums and undersea experience. Unspoilt beaches, delicious cream teas, and many of the National Trust’s finest properties (including romantic Bodiam Castle) and great gardens are also close at hand. What to do on your family holiday in East Sussex, southern coast of England
We have a wonderful choice of holiday cottages in East Sussex, all within easy reach of the coastal resorts that the county is famous for. There’s bustling and colourful Brighton, great for shopping and with a superb choice of bars and restaurants. There’s genteel Eastbourne and nearby Beachy Head. There’s Hastings, with its fishing net huts and, of course the nearby site of the famous battle that saw the beginning of the Norman Conquest. There’s Bexhill-on-Sea, with its De La Warr Pavilion, a glorious Art Deco creation. And there’s Rye, a charming town near the south coast that is a haven for antique hunters.
On cottage holidays in East Susses there’s much to explore inland too, when you take one of our East Sussex cottage holidays.
