Railway Cottage is a former railway workers cottage with a 3 star rating, sleeping 4/5 people. It is located at Newbridge (nr. Pickering), the gateway to the stunning North Yorkshire Moors National Park. The cottage was newly restored and furnished in 2009.

The semi-detached cottage is situated within a small, quiet hamlet, and yet benefits from being within only 15 minutes easy walking distance of the market town of Pickering, with its supermarkets, shops, traditional pubs, wide choice of restaurants and, of course, famous steam railway station. Also close by are the seaside resorts of Scarborough & Whitby, the Dalby Forest with its adventure playgrounds , ITV's Heartbeat country and Flamingoland theme park & zoo.

However, this is more than just a holiday cottage! The majestic steam locomotives of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR), as filmed in Harry Potter, pass slowly in front of the property providing great entertainment for children - young & old! The locomotives can be viewed from the lounge and master bedroom as well as from the fully fenced & gated patio. The steam trains run during the daytime only!

The cottage is geared up for families. A cot, highchair and stair-gate are provided. There are books & toys. A welcome pack containing basic provisions will be presented on arrival, and any additional shopping requests can be catered for! It is also possible to request home-cooked Yorkshire food to be delivered to the cottage. The NYMR also runs various events for families throughout the year.

We loved the cosy feel and the fact that it was extremely well equipped. And from my point of view it was spotless and had a lovely welcoming bottle of wine!!
