Holiday Reviews from the Owners’ site

We have just completed a week long stay at Neil and Tricia Young's picturesque location in Morbihan, Brittany. Our group consisted of 3 couples (all around 60yrs old) as well as another couple who were travelling with us in their motorhome. We rented La Chaumiere and were delighted to find that it was just as we expected from the photos and description we had read on the web site. It was accurately described and was spotlessly clean for us when we arrived. Tricia's instructions on how to find the gite from Quistinic were ideal and as we arrived after a fairly long drive we took advantage of the "Welcome meal" that Tricia had recommended. It was superb! and so good not to have to go to the bother of cooking when we were all tired.
Tricia and Neil were excellent hosts: always there if we needed any help but never intrusive. We particularly enjoyed using the cycles to explore the area and had a great day following the canal tow-path along the Blavet river to a delightful lunch at "Rendez Vous aux Pecheurs" - a recommendation from Tricia who also made the booking for us. We would be more than happy to recommend La Chaumiere to our friends and others. We enjoyed swimming in the heated pool even though the weather was a cool 15 to 16 degrees and none too tropical for June. We also appreciated Tricia and Neil permitting our friends with the motor home to have it parked there all week. If we had to find a negative comment it would be that the kitchen was a tad too small when cooking for 8. There was really only room for one adult in there at any time but having said that, it didn't stop us producing some gastronomic feasts! Everything we needed was there to do the job! The location of Le Helleguy suited us very well and we were able to easily travel to all the places we wanted to see with a maximum of 1hr 30mins driving - lots of sights were much closer than that. Au revoir from 8 New Zealanders - all now confirmed francophiles!

We have recently returned from spending a week at Le Helleguy and already we want to go back. We stayed in La Chaumiere which is a beautiful, large cottage, which has everything you could want to make your stay effortless and extremely comfortable. We chose Le Helleguy for the pool and childrens play area, as we have a 3yr old, and were thrilled to find a large outside games cupboard with all manner of games to play. The retractable roof on the pool is fantastic. The weather was a little cool when we first arrived but it made no difference to the use of the pool, thankfully, as our boy couldn't wait to get in there. Entertainment was also provided for him in the form of Connie the resident dog, who was known as his "best friend" for the duration of the holiday at least. The play area is far enough away from the cottages so as not to disturb other guests staying in the other cottage, which is always a consideration for us (we still remember life before having a child!). We loved the private outside area for our evening bbq's and a relax, mulling over the days events. The gardens are lovely and kept impeccably. Trips to Lorient for the beach and Vannes for the market were easy drives and there is a good supermarket at Baud, just a short drive away. Unfortunately I didn't get to try out any of the beauty treatments on offer, but think that this is as good an excuse as any to return very soon to try them out. We had a fabulous stay here, and I'm sure future guests will love Le Helleguy and Tricia and Neil as much as we did.

Le Helleguy is nestled in the South Brittany countryside, and provides a very relaxing experience. The cottage (La Chaumiere) was very clean and spacious. Nothing had been skimped on, and the bedding, towels, cooking utensils etc were all of high quality. Everything had been thought of. A welcome basket had been provided containing a variety of groceries and drinks, which was a very nice touch. The grounds are stunning, as are the variety of plants and flowers. The roses around the doors emit a wonderful scent. The swimming pool is well maintained and clean, and it was lovely to sunbathe on loungers around the pool. We enjoyed some day trips to local towns, such as Josselin, Carnac and Vannes, and also enjoyed country walks and cycle rides around Le Helleguy. I would highly recommend Le Helleguy.

We stayed at La Grange for the second time this summer (July 2010) and yet again it was 'the best holiday ever'. The cottages are very well equipped and the location is relaxing and beautiful. The standards of cleanliness, provision, facilities and care are outstanding. The children were happy all day in the pool (and cricket, football on the vast lawns. The adults were happy to relax in the sun and the hardest part of the day was cooking tea on the barbeque at night with a cold beer in your hand. We enjoyed cycling to the local shop every day for fresh french bread and the market towns of Bubre and Baud are nearby. We also enjoyed walking around the area (normally accompanied by Trisha and Neil's collie Connie - who also doubled as an excellent fielder at cricket with the children) My wife needed to see a Doctor whilst we were there and Neil could not have been more helpful. In fact I do not know what we would have done without him. He came with us, on a Sunday, to a town and translated for us and managed to get everything sorted. All in all you could not wish to a better holiday than here at Le Helleguy and you could not wish to have better hosts than Neil and Tricia who I cannot recommend them highly enough to you. Suggest you book now and stop looking elsewhere. This corner of France is heaven on earth - you will love it and you will not find anywhere better.

This was our 2nd visit to Le Helleguy in 8 months and our 1st staying in La Grange. We were as pleased this time as last,if not more, and still couldn't fault anything. This cottage was as clean, well equipped & decorated as their other one and perhaps a little more suitable for our small party of four for 1 week & then three for the second week. We had chosen Le Helleguy a 2nd time as a special place to stay for celebrating an 80th birthday. Tricia & Neil were extremely helpful in arranging catering at the cottage for the evening, making a booking before our arrival at our choice of restaurant for lunch & ordering & even collecting the "trois chocolat" cake for the day. It made it hassle free for me & assisted in giving the birthday boy some lovely surprises on the day. I couldn't thank them enough for all they did. The grounds were as previously immaculate and a real pleasure to walk around. Swimming in the pool was a joy as well. The fourth member of our party hadn't been before but I know will certainly have recommended Le Helleguy to her children and family. We had a terrific holiday and whether you stay "at home" or are out for the day it is equally enjoyable. Well done and thank you Neil and Tricia for providing such a wonderful place for those precious holidays

You could not be made to feel more welcome here. Tricia and Neil are excellent, kind and warm hosts. What made this place special was the finishing touches they have put in place, from the huge and delicius welcome hamper, to the cleaning equipment, oil and balsamic vinegar! The pool is brilliant- warm and inviting, even if it is raining, with the telescopic cover. We cannot recommend this place highly enough!

First class accommodation – a real ‘home from home’ – in fantastic buildings & a lovely sized plot for the young ones to let off steam in safe surroundings. A great spot to explore from. Used the pool everyday which was great for the children & the ladies enjoyed the beauty treatments..This is the best quality gite we have stayed in by some way & can certainly imagine returning. PS. Excellent weather all week! Robley family – Essex

A wonderful relaxing week. The attention to detail was perfect; treatments were bliss and couldn’t get the children out of the pool. Spoilt for any future holidays! Thank you so much. Saines family – Alresford, Hampshire

In 7 years of holidaying in French properties we have never encountered such high standards. The presentation of the cottages is immaculate and every conceivable requirement incorporated for all ages. We are full of admiration for the tremendous effort Neil & Tricia put into providing this excellent holiday accommodation & surroundings..Rogers & Patemans families – Northamptonshire

An absolutely perfect fortnight. The cottage was beautiful – the best accommodation we’ve stayed in – in any country. Two absolutely perfect hosts. Everything you could need had already been thought of. Hope to see you again next year. Thank you for everything. Julie & Dave Britton - Northampton
