Samoens is linked to the massive Grand Massif (with Les Carroz, Morillon and Flaine) and provides extensive skiing for all levels with virtually no queues. Not many places offer such a wide variety of skiing, and very few have such fantastic panoramic views over Mont-Blanc. There is an excellent nursery slope area at Samoens 1600, in fact now the biggest beginners’ area in the Haute Savoie. For the more advanced there is also a testing terrain: The steep north-facing mogul slopes from the Tête des Saix, the central point of the entire Grand Massif system, down to Samoens are particularly enjoyable and there is a new fast (8 mins), high capacity gondola from the village to a new extensive beginners area on the plateau at 1600m, which also acts as a gateway to the Flaine ski area.
Other Winter Sports and Activities - Cross country skiing on Joux Plane with a bus link from Samoens village; Ski touring; Snowshoeing at Joux Plane, Sixt Fer à Cheval, Verchaix and Morillon; Sledging on Samoens 1600 and Joux Plane; Ice skating – 600 m2 rink in the centre of Samoens; Caving; Climbing - indoor and natural sites; Paragliding; Helicopter flights; Dog sledding; Ice diving. Santa Claus visits the village on Christmas Eve or you may want to dance in Samoens at Hogmanay. In February there is a weekly 'Savoyard Day' with traditional games, a giant tartiflette and a dance. On Easter Monday you can hunt for eggs hidden in the village.
In summer you can use the same chair lifts and gondolas to access the mountains for hiking, biking, climbing or perhaps a spot of lunch with some breathtaking views! You could take a relaxed walk beside the Gorges des Tines and the waterfalls at Sixt-Fer-A-Cheval. There are outdoor swimming pools, horse riding, fishing, tennis courts and some testing lakeside adventure parks for young and old. For golfers there are two 18 hole courses at Les Carroz and Les Gets with fantastic views and un crowded fairways plus a practice range and putting green in Samoens itself.La Jaysinia Botanical Garden, in Samoens has more than 8000 varieties of flora from around the world, plus XII century castle ruins and a XVIII church are certainly worth a visit Nearby at Morillon is a lake with a man made beach and adventure play ground. For the more adventurers there is also climbing, parascending, white-water rafting, canoeing to name but a few.

We are a family of 4, 2 of whom are teenage lads aged 18 and 15 we had a brilliant week, the snow was superb and the apartment was very comfortable. We would have no hesitation in returning or recommending this property. The skiing in the Grand Massif is fabulous and suitable for all levels of skier. There is plenty of off-piste adventure and the pistes are lovely wide motorways. There are some lovely and reasonably priced restaurants in the village - La Louisianne is a particular favourite; serving delicious pizzas and past dishes. The town bakery is also a 'must', it opens at 6 am and bakes the most delicious pastries. Rating 5 out of 5, Julie, Feb 2012.
This apartment was a lovely base in Samoens. It was quiet yet close to the centre and shops, bars and restaurants. The skiing was excellent, and easily accessed by a nearby ski bus. I would recommend this property because it has everything you need for a comfortable holiday. The apartment is extremely comfortable with all amenities. It is also only about 200 metres from the centre of the village. We had a wonderful holiday in July and I hope we get the opportunity to use the Apartment again. Rating 5 out of 5, Alan, July 2010.
Well equipped and comfortable two bedroom apartment very close to the centre of Samoens. Jardin des Neiges apartment building is one of the best in Samoens both in its position and construction. Excellent location close to shops and town centre, yet quiet. Apartment well furnished and ideally situated for the gondola. Great views from balcony to the mountains which offer extensive and challenging skiing. Debbie gave us some very useful bits of information before we left and everything ran like clockwork. Perfect for a family ski holiday- easy transfers, beautiful town. Good location - close to shops/restaurants/village square. ski bus 1 min, can walk to cable car (suggest avoid in ski boots!). Beautiful French village with excellent amenities. The apartment is really central for village/restaurants/shops/ski hire and ski bus. It is very comfortable, warm and well equipped. There is an excellent range of kitchen equipment for preparing food. Our children (12 and 9) loved the vast range of playstation games and DVDs. Ideal for an evening's entertainment after long days of skiing. Debbie is extremely helpful and I whole-heartedly recommend this apartment. Rating 5 out of 5! Sally, Mar 2010.
I spent a week here recently with two friends. Samoens is a delightful traditional alpine village, just 1 hours drive from Geneva Airport at 700m. The village has a fast cable car to Samoens 1600m which opens up all the Grand Massif ski runs. The apartment is central with car parking; it is newly refurbed, clean, tidy and very well equipped for 4/5 adults or 2 adults plus 3 children (depending on sharing /sofabed). Debbie is very helpful with arrangements, and even left us a 'welcome pack' on arrival! Highly recommended rated 5 out of 5, Tony, Feb 2010.
Central location - short walk to the restaurants and shops in Samoens and to the ski lift bus stop; Superbly maintained and well equipped apartment; Modern decor, comfortable beds and hot, powerful shower - well appreciated after a day on the slopes. Rating 5 out of 5, Sarah, Oct 2009.
