Chauffour self catering gites are beautiful self catering holiday cottages located in the Dordogne countryside in south west France. We have four gites that can be rented individually or together for large groups. La Ferme is our large 5 bedroom farmhouse, the delightful 3 bedroom La Grange, our 2 bedroom gite, La Porcherie, and about 1 km away the 4 bedroom La Petite Maison. All of our gites are set in large, mature gardens complete with swimming pool. If you have a large group it is possible to book several properties at once and we can accommodate up to 26 people.
Chauffour self catering holiday gites are in a peaceful hamlet and surrounded by sunflower fields and vineyards. Just a few minutes away are the villages of Allemans and St. Severin where you can find bakeries, banks, post office and a supermarket. The bustling market town of Riberac, famed for its huge Friday market, is just 10 minutes away. We're 1 hour from Angouleme and Bergerac, 1.5 hours from Bordeaux, 2 hours from Limoges. The new airport at Brive, due to open shortly, is also within easy reach. Ryanair, Easyjet and Flybe all offer low cost flights from the UK, and Air France and Aer Lingus offer flights from Dublin, Ireland into Bordeaux. The ferry ports of St. Malo and Caen are all within a comfortable days drive making Chauffour ideally placed for your holiday in the Dordogne.
To make your vacation as relaxing as possible, we also offer a dinner on arrival and speciality pizza and dining club events. Relaxation, Massage and Reflexology is also available in the comfort of your gite. For teenagers who are "bored" you can arrange for Malcolm to take them out in the canoe or for a cycle ride so that you can enjoy some quality time together - please contact us for more information. Both of us are CRB cleared to work with children. If you're flying with a baby and don't want to bring all those bulky items, then we can provide you with a baby welcome pack. We have a selection of bikes and helmets for most ages and can advise on the best cycle routes to suit your ability. We also have a great supply of both indoor and outdoor toys and games for boys and girls. With two young children of our own, we understand the needs of families on holiday.
Not only are children very welcome, we have tried to think of everything to ensure all you need is at hand.
La Ferme gite is a fantastic 17th century farmhouse which offers versatile accommodation and can sleep up to 12 in comfort; perfect for groups, families with children or a couple of families sharing. It is packed full of original features such as the beautiful oak staircase and a huge open fireplace. On the ground floor we have a large kitchen, perfect for self catering, with dishwasher, fridge, microwave, double oven and hob. There is also a wonderfully spacious lounge and separate dining room with seating for up to 12. Both rooms have french doors leading onto the terrace. There is also a large bathroom with jacuzzi bath and walk-in shower. On the first floor we have 3 fantastic double bedrooms, two of which can accommodate a cot or child bed, and a shower room with toilet - on the second floor we have two twin rooms ideal for the children with a further bathroom.
La Grange is a charming three bedroom and perfect for a family holiday. Our self catering cottage that can accommodate up to 7 people and has a large open plan lounge, dining area and kitchen. You find are exposed stone walls, an open fire place and double doors leading onto your own private terrace and garden. The kitchen is ideal for self catering and comes fully equipped with dishwasher, oven, microwave and fridge/freezer. There are also laundry facilities in an adjacent utility room. In the Lounge you will find satellite TV with DVD and Video player. On the first floor there are 2 double bedrooms each with room for a cot if required and 1 triple with bunk beds and a single bed; ideal for children and families. There is also a shower room and separate toilet on the first floor with a further toilet on the ground floor.
La Porcherie is a lovely holiday cottage that can accommodate up to four people and is perfect for couples or a family with young children. You enter La Porcherie through a conservatory, laid out as your dining area; this is a great place to enjoy the Dordogne sunshine. This leads into an open plan lounge and kitchen with wood burning stove ideal for long term lets and out of season breaks. There is also a private garden and seating area. Old oak stairs lead to a double bedroom with an adjoining smaller bedroom, suitable for 1 or 2 young children. There is an adjoining modern bathroom with a bath with shower over, toilet and bidet. The kitchen area has a fridge/freezer with ice maker, large stove/oven and microwave.

La Porcherie: A wonderful place to spend our first family holiday with our 18month old. The owners are lovely and the setting is perfect. We were immediately at ease on arrival and the welcome pack and evening meal waiting for us were fabulous additions after the car journey down through France. The gite had everything we needed for our little one; the garden, pool and surrounding countryside provided everything else we needed for a lovely holiday. It benefits from the peace and quiet of the countryside but is only a short drive away from small villages and towns with the necessary boulangeries, supermarkets and cash machines. Bathing rivers and lakes are within 20 minutes drive and some of the most beautiful towns in the Dordogne are easily reached for a days visit. We have just booked our third holiday at Chaffour Gite Holidays. It is a fantastic family friendly environment. Beautiful surroundings, convenient location for both river beach and town. The family that own the complex are wonderful and recommended some great days (and evenings) out. This is a great family holiday that has kept us going for the whole year!
