This is a beautiful 250 year old farmhouse converted to the highest standards as a holiday home, set in a small hamlet of Chez Bouquet with just 10 houses. The house is completely secluded in 2 acres of gardens. The whole house sleeps 16, although it is possible to rent just the ground floor which has three bedrooms and three bathrooms - although we would never rent the two floors out to separate people at the same time. The first floor has a further three bedrooms. The main kitchen is fully equipped including a dishwasher and there is use of a washing machine and tumble dryer. The lounge has a wood burner, plenty of sofas, TV/DVD and stereo. There is also a cot available if required.
Outside there is a private 10x5m swimming pool with underwater lighting and complies with all French safety standards - there is even CCTV of the swimming pool in the kitchen so that parents can watch the children whilst cooking! The whole property is situated in a large garden with woodland, making an ideal playground for the kids. There is also a table tennis table, boules set and four bikes available for our guests. There is wi-fi throughout the house, garden, and pool area.

Just got back from a 2 week holiday at Chez Bouquet in late Aug 2010. 13 of us stayed there and I was slightly concerned we might get under each others feet - but no risk of that! The place is huge and we had loads of space. Chez Bouquet was exactly as described in the details on the website and actually exceeded expectations in many ways. I had a minds eye image of sitting reading under the trees in the garden with a good book and a beer, with the kids (young adults actually) messing about in the pool and everyone chilled. Fully achieved many times! There location is great - 25 mins from the beach, 30 mins from Royan and Cognac and 60 mins from La Rochelle - all visited during our stay and recommended. We also visited the restaurant at Etang da Brousse, recommended by Stephen and had a great meal up there - 4 courses for 18 euro. Food was lovely! The wine tasting evening arranged by Martin/Wendy (friends of Stephen) is also a fun way to spend a couple of hours - we bought loads of wine from them at great prices. All in all we had a great holiday at Chez Bouquet and would thoroughly recommend it if you want a laid back gite type holiday in France in the French countryside, but close to lots of things to do. Fernand, who looks after the place, couldn't do enough for us and has the patience of a saint! He dealt swiftly and efficiently with a couple of minor problems we had. The local 'patisserie' in Cravans sells fresh bread etc and is walkable if you fancy an early morning stroll or is a 5 min drive. The local supermarket is 10 mins drive away (Super U) in Gemozac and is large and reasonable value (10L of red wine for 15euro is not to be sniffed at!) A great place to holiday. Richard
Thank you, for a great holiday in June. Your house and settings are exquisite, so nice to find a clean house and fresh linen. The lovely Charentes way of life is slow and relaxed totally different to city life in UK or Jo’berg, we found the locals charming if not a little bizarre. The house looks a bit odd from the outside but once you start exploring it makes sense. It would be nice to transport it to the Cape overlooking the sea, that would be too much to ask, once again we all being six fun loving South Africans loved it. Above all the house was fresh and everything was clean and tidy, oh yes, G R E A T pool. Promise you that if we come to Europe again we will look you up. Pete & Danie, South Africa, June 2009.
We were so pleased to see your website advertising Chez Bouquet, and fell in love with it instantly. We were certainly not disappointed with the reality! Immaculately clean and tidy, and very well decorated. It certainly is the ideal place for a dream holiday, let alone a dream honeymoon! We wanted for nothing whilst we were there, the house being very well equipped. We both loved the efficient power showers which were very refreshing after a day lazing in the garden or travelling around in our hire car. Evenings we would go for a dip in the pool whilst crevettes and steaks sizzled on the barbie, and sit there until dusk when we would go to the very comfy bed provided by you, and sleep very well. Your neighbours, Fernand and Evelyn were such nice people, nothing was too much trouble for them. We were so impressed with the house that we have recommended it to all our friends. We had such a lovely relaxing time, that we cannot imagine anybody not thoroughly enjoying it there.
